6 Anticipated Concerts and Festivals of 2024

Whew! If you thought 2023 was the year of concerts, just wait. 2024 has something way bigger in store for us! From pop music legends to rap’s hottest acts, there’s something for everyone this year. There’s even something for those who still have a love for R&B. You get to choose from global tours to legendary festivals in the US to get your musical therapy. Some events already have tickets on sale, while you may have to stream online for others. This is perfect for those who can’t cop an in-person ticket! You have the pleasure of enjoying it from the comfort of your home. Here are six concerts and festivals to look forward to in 2024.

1). Janet Jackson

(In my Wendy William’s voice) She’s an icon, she’s a legend, she is the moment. The Queen of Pop and youngest sibling in the Jackson family is bringing back her 2023 Together Again tour, due to popular demand. Nelly is set to be the special guest, and knowing Ms. Jackson (if ya nasty) she’ll bring out some surprise guests. The tour kicks off March 8th in Honolulu, Hawaii, with a few stops in Japan, then back in the US during the summer, starting June 4th. Tickets are on sale now, this is a tour you do not want to miss.

2). Nicki Minaj

Hate her or love her, hip hop’s reigning Queen is about to take the world by storm with her upcoming tour. Starting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 13th, Barbz across the world get a chance to see Nicki live while she performs her classic hits and songs off her latest album, Pink Friday 2.

3). Lovers and Friends Festival

15x GRAMMY® Award-winner, Alicia Keys

Now, the festival that caused a stir in 2020 is back for the third year in a row; live and in effect in no other than Sin City (Las Vegas). This year the lineup has some real heavy hitters as headliners. Music legends Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, and Alicia Keys are set to headline, as well as Usher, who’s most likely going to have one of the most anticipated performances, fresh off his Super Bowl halftime show. The lineup includes music greats from all genres, from hip-hop legend Nas to iconic 90s girl groups  TLC, SWV, and Xscape, to the iconic boy band Backstreet Boys. Now the festival is already causing some controversy after the first day has sold out and artists such as The Dream and Mary J. Blige have spoken out, saying they will not be performing. Nonetheless, expect this to be one of the most talked about festivals this year.

4). Essence Fest

You know people joke and say Essence Fest is Coachella for black aunties. But there’s so much more for everyone, even the men! The official lineup hasn’t been announced yet, but considering last year’s performances from Megan Thee Stallion, Lauryn Hill, and Janelle Monae sent social media into a frenzy, expect nothing less than spectacular this year.

5). Andre 3000

For those who want to center themselves and soothe their energy, check out Andre 3000’s tour. No, he won’t be rapping (even though we are still holding out for an OutKast reunion), he will be performing songs from his New Blue Sun album, where he plays the flute for eight songs. For those who enjoy live music but don’t enjoy the chaos of concerts, this will be your go-to event

6). Jazz In The Gardens

A relaxing festival with the hottest R&B, Neo-Soul, and gospel artists is set to happen in Miami Gardens. Jazz in the Gardens is a two-day festival happening in March, and this year’s hosts are comedians Jess Hilarious and Rickey Smiley. Music’s rising stars Summer Walker, Jazmine Sullivan, and David will be headlining while icons Babyface, Maxwell, and Kirk Franklin will be performing as well. For those who want something more low profile yet still star-studded, this is perfect for you. Oh did I mention there’s a special DJ set by Kid Capri?
