5 Fun Activities for Families in the Spring

While we’re coming into spring, many wonder what they should do with their spare time in Florida. For those without children, it can be a challenge deciding on a vacation destination that isn't Disney or the chaotic streets of Miami. If you're looking for something more relaxing and less noisy, you can find it in Florida! Florida offers an array of family-friendly sites and activities and is perfect for those who prefer to avoid the club scene. If you're looking to take some fun, Instagram-worthy photos, you won't be disappointed. Grab your bags and round the family (or friends) up because I have five places for you to visit for a fun, spring day!

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

I love Disney World as much as the next person, but we all come up a little short sometimes and might not have Disney money or the tickets might be sold out. Luckily, Florida has plenty of theme parks to still give you that thrill you want! Busch Gardens in Tampa is an exciting theme park dedicated to your wild side. With safaris, live animals, restaurants, rides, and attractions, there’s something for everyone. Busch Gardens has something for everyone, whether you're an adult looking to wine and dine or have children searching for adventure and education.

Beaches at Siesta Key

Miami, while one of the most visited cities in Florida, is starting to crack down on tourists and spring breakers (and rightfully so). However, if you want a South Florida experience without the hustle and bustle of Miami, the beaches of Siesta Key are the perfect to go to. The beaches of Siesta Key are safe and family-friendly, with a youthful, vibrant, breathtaking atmosphere. White sand facing the Gulf of Mexico? Castillo de San Marcos National Monument in St. Augustine

For the history buffs out there, you can visit this national monument in America's oldest city. While history has taught us Thanksgiving originated in Jamestown, this national monument teaches us that the first Thanksgiving took place in St. Augustine, near this monument. Witness one of the oldest parts of this country for $15 (free for children 15 and under).

The Wizard of OZ Museum

One of the most beloved movies in history has a museum dedicated to it. From dolls, books, and exclusive photos, yes it is all there for the fans of this legendary film. I know this is on your mind, and yes the iconic outfit Judy Garland wore in the film is on display, along with the ruby red shoes. Don’t try to take them now!

Zora Neale Hurston National Museum of Fine Art

Located in Eatonville, Florida, this fine art museum is named after Eatonville’s notable resident and literary giant. The museum houses art created by African American artists and those of the African diaspora. While much isn’t displayed on their website other than the schedule, this is a great place to visit that encompasses art, history, and culture for people of all ages. By supporting this museum, you can help ensure its long-term existence. Your contribution will play a significant role in keeping the museum open for years to come.
