Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders Today: Sisters Build & Man Up Mentoring Celebrate 8 Years of Impact
In the heart of DeLand, two powerful youth-focused organizations—Sisters Build Network for Girls, Inc. and Man Up Mentoring, Inc.—have joined forces to transform the lives of students through mentorship, education, and empowerment. Now celebrating their 8th year of service, these organizations continue to make a lasting impact on students across Volusia County and beyond, offering a year-long mentoring experience for youth in grades 5–12.
Founded by Dr. Primrose Cameron, Sisters Build provides a safe and inspiring space for girls to explore leadership, personal development, and self-worth. Man Up Mentoring, founded by Sean King, guides young men in making positive choices, fostering academic growth, and developing strong character. Together, their united mission is clear: to empower youth—especially those from underserved backgrounds—with the tools to succeed in life and give back to their communities.
The year-round mentoring program features monthly workshops focused on essential life skills, including financial literacy, mental wellness, leadership development, and academic excellence. Youth participate in college tours that expand their vision for the future, community service projects that build compassion and civic engagement, and relationship-building activities that strengthen connections with mentors, peers, and local leaders. These experiences not only shape confident and capable students but also build a network of support that extends far beyond the classroom.
What makes this initiative even more remarkable is that it operates entirely through donations and grants, proving that when a community comes together for its youth, incredible things can happen.
Based in DeLand, the program welcomes students from all areas of Volusia County and neighboring communities who are ready to grow, lead, and thrive.
